Character Description
A combat engineer is a type of soldier who performs military engineering tasks in support of land forces combat operations. Combat engineers perform a variety of military engineering, and mine warfare tasks as well as construction and demolition duties in and out of combat zones.
Appearance

Loadout
- Primary Weapon: Assault rifle or carbine
- Ammunition: 7 magazines (210 rounds total)
- Explosives:
- 3x C4/TNT charges (for demolition)
- 2x Anti-Tank Mines
- 2x Anti-Personnel Mines (or Claymores)
- Equipment: 1x Smoke Grenade, Engineer Tool Kit
- Special Tools:
- Entrenching tool/shovel
- Wire cutters
- Lock pick set for vehicle capture
- Repair kit (basic)
- Bandages: 3x Field Dressings
Squad Limitations
- Maximum 1-2 per squad - Specialized construction and demolition role
- Critical for establishing forward infrastructure and defensive positions
Special Abilities
Combat Engineers are force multipliers who shape the battlefield through construction, demolition, and obstacle creation:
Demolition:
- Structure Destruction: Destroy buildings, bridges, and enemy fortifications with C4/TNT
- Vehicle Destruction: Plant charges on disabled enemy vehicles
- Obstacle Clearance: Clear enemy mines and wire obstacles (with kit)
- Breach Creation: Blow holes in walls for squad entry points
Mine Warfare:
- Anti-Tank Mining: Deploy AT mines to deny armor routes (max 2 placed)
- Anti-Personnel/Claymore: Set defensive traps and ambush positions (max 2 placed)
- Mine Detection: Locate and mark enemy mines for squad
- Explosive Ambush: Set ambushes on key terrain and supply routes
Construction & Fortification:
- FOB Construction: Build Forward Operating Base structures
- Requires construction vehicle nearby
- Build: bunkers, walls, towers, supply depots
- Build time: 60-120 seconds depending on structure
- Defensive Positions: Create sandbag positions, wire obstacles
- Infrastructure Setup: Establish crucial facilities in captured territory
- Build spawn points and respawn structures
- Setup ammo/supply caches
- Establish repair stations
Vehicle Operations:
- Vehicle Capture: Use lock pick set to access non-destroyed enemy vehicles
- Captured vehicles can be driven but not rearmed
- Can return to Motor Pool for resource income credit
- Takes 30 seconds to pick lock (vulnerable during action)
- Basic Repair: Limited vehicle and structure repair capability
Advantages
- Battlefield Shaping: Only role that can build defensive structures
- Demolition Master: Can destroy enemy fortifications and create breaches
- Mine Warfare: Deny terrain to enemy armor and infantry
- FOB Construction: Critical for establishing forward spawn points and supply
- Vehicle Capture: Can steal enemy vehicles for resources or use
- Versatile Impact: Construction, demolition, and combat capabilities
- Obstacle Creation: Shape enemy movement with mines and fortifications
Disadvantages
- Limited Explosives:
- Only 3 demolition charges and 4 mines total
- Cannot resupply explosives from squad - must return to FOB
- Must carefully plan explosive use
- Weight Penalty:
- 15% slower movement than Rifleman
- Explosives, tools, and equipment are heavy
- Reduced stamina recovery
- Time Intensive:
- Construction takes 60-120 seconds (very vulnerable)
- Must stay near construction vehicle for FOB building
- Vehicle lock picking takes 30 seconds exposed
- Requires significant time commitment away from combat
- Multitasking Demand:
- Must balance combat, construction, and mine placement
- Responsible for establishing infrastructure in captured zones
- High cognitive load managing multiple tasks
- Construction Dependency:
- Needs construction vehicle nearby for major building projects
- Cannot build without proper equipment
- Vulnerability During Tasks:
- Completely exposed while building (long animations)
- Cannot fight while using tools
- Easy target when focused on construction/demolition
- Limited Combat Focus:
- Slightly less ammunition than standard Rifleman
- Time spent building means less time fighting
- Mine Limitations:
- Maximum 2 AT and 2 AP mines placed at once
- Mines can be detected and cleared by enemy engineers
- Team Dependency: Infrastructure effectiveness depends on team using it properly
- Reduced Grenades: Only 1 smoke, no frags (explosives take that space)
