Squad Limitations
- Maximum 1-2 per squad - Specialized fire support role
- Critical for engaging fortified positions and defilade targets
Special Abilities
The Grenadier provides explosive firepower and can engage targets behind cover, in buildings, or at extended ranges:
40mm Grenade Systems:
- Underslung Launcher (M203/GP-25):
- Attached to rifle, maintains rifle capability
- 8-10 rounds of 40mm ammunition carried
- Effective range: 150-400m
- Reload time: 4-5 seconds per round
- Standalone Launcher (M32/M79):
- Dedicated grenade launcher (6-shot revolver or single-shot)
- 10-12 rounds of 40mm ammunition carried
- Effective range: up to 800m for some platforms
- Faster reload for M32 (revolver), slower for M79 (break-action)
Engagement Capabilities:
- Defilade Targets: Hit enemies behind cover with arcing fire
- Building Clearance: Engage windows and fortified positions
- Vehicle Harassment: Suppress or damage light vehicles
- Area Denial: Lay smoke screens for squad movement
- Extended Range: Engage targets beyond effective rifle range (up to 800m)
Ammunition Types:
- HE (High-Explosive): Anti-personnel and light material, 5m casualty radius
- Smoke: Screening and signaling, 30-second duration
- Illumination: Battlefield lighting for night operations (if available)
Advantages
- Indirect Fire: Can engage targets behind cover without line of sight
- Building Assault: Clear fortified structures and windows
- Extended Range: 800m maximum range exceeds standard infantry weapons
- Versatile Ammunition: HE, smoke, and illumination options
- Force Multiplier: Single grenadier equals firepower of multiple riflemen
- Tactical Flexibility: Underslung maintains rifle capability
Disadvantages
- Limited Ammunition:
- Only 8-12 grenades total, must manage carefully
- Cannot resupply from standard Riflemen - needs supply point
- Each shot must count due to scarcity
- Weight Penalty:
- 10-15% slower movement than Rifleman
- Grenade ammunition is heavy and bulky
- Slightly slower stamina recovery
- Weapon Handling:
- Underslung launcher adds weight, increasing ADS time by 15%
- Standalone launcher requires weapon switch from sidearm for close combat
- Reload time is slow (4-5 seconds exposed)
- Minimum Arming Distance:
- 40mm rounds don’t arm until 15-30m from launcher
- Ineffective in close quarters (dud rounds)
- Must maintain distance from targets
- Arc Fire Difficulty:
- Requires skill to judge trajectory at range
- Need to account for target distance and elevation
- Easy to miss with indirect fire
- Resupply Dependency: Must return to FOB/supply point to restock grenades
- Reduced Rifle Ammo: Carry less rifle ammunition than standard Rifleman
