Character Description
Pilots fly various types of specialized aircraft to transport troops and equipment, gather intelligence, and execute combat missions.
Appearance

Special Abilities
You will be able to provide close air support (CAS) defined as air action such as air strikes by fixed or rotary-winged aircraft against hostile targets near friendly forces and require detailed integration of each air mission with fire and movement of these forces and attacks with aerial bombs, glide bombs, missiles, rockets, autocannons, machine guns, and even directed-energy weapons such as lasers.
Furthermore, pilots will provide Air Assault, which is the movement of ground-based military forces by vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft—such as the helicopter—to seize and hold key terrain which has not been fully secured, and to directly engage enemy forces behind enemy lines.
Finally, will be a key component of logistics behind enemy lines, enable assaulting forces to combine air mobility with a certain degree of ground mechanization and maintaining transportation of reinforcements to the front lines.
Loadout
- Primary Weapon: Sidearm only (pistol)
- Ammunition: 3-4 pistol magazines
- Equipment: Survival kit (minimal)
- Special Equipment: Flight helmet, navigation gear
- No combat loadout - Pilots stay with aircraft
- Bandages: 2x Field Dressings
Team/Squad Limitations
- No squad requirement - Operates independently or with co-pilot
- Can support any squad by request through Commander
- Limited by available aircraft allocated by Commander
Special Abilities
Pilots provide critical air superiority, close air support, transport, and logistics for ground forces:
Fixed-Wing Operations:
- Close Air Support (CAS): Attack ground targets with rockets, missiles, and bombs
- Coordinate with ground forces and Commander
- Engage armor, infantry, and fortifications
- Precision strikes on marked targets
- Air Superiority: Engage enemy aircraft
- Reconnaissance: Provide aerial intelligence of enemy positions
Rotary-Wing (Helicopter) Operations:
- Air Assault: Transport infantry squads to objectives
- Hot LZ insertions under fire
- Rapid deployment of up to 8-12 soldiers
- Extract forces from combat zones
- Close Air Support: Engage ground targets with rockets, missiles, and door guns
- Attack helicopters (AH-64, Mi-24, etc.)
- Support infantry advances with fire support
- Logistics: Transport supplies and equipment
- Resupply isolated squads
- Deliver critical ammunition and equipment
- Medevac wounded soldiers
Advanced Capabilities:
- Night Operations: Utilize night vision and thermal imaging
- Countermeasures: Deploy flares and chaff against missiles
- Precision Navigation: Navigate to specific coordinates for support
Advantages
- Air Superiority: Dominate from the sky with speed and firepower
- Rapid Response: Reach any battlefield location in minutes
- Heavy Firepower: Rockets, missiles, bombs exceed ground weapons
- Force Multiplication: Single aircraft can change battle outcome
- Mobility: Unmatched speed and range across the map
- Reconnaissance: See battlefield from above, spot enemies
- Transport Capability: Enable rapid squad deployment and extraction
- Logistics Support: Resupply isolated or advancing forces
- Psychological Impact: Air presence demoralizes enemy forces
Disadvantages
- Extreme Vulnerability:
- Easy target for AA missiles (Stinger, Igla, etc.)
- Sitting duck on the ground - completely exposed while landed
- No armor protection against AA weapons
- One missile hit can destroy aircraft
- Limited countermeasures (flares/chaff deplete quickly)
- Limited Combat Capability Outside Aircraft:
- Only armed with pistol if shot down
- Minimal ammunition (3-4 magazines)
- No combat equipment or support gear
- Extremely vulnerable if forced to bail out
- Deep behind enemy lines if shot down
- High Skill Requirement:
- Difficult flight controls and mechanics
- Must coordinate with Commander and ground forces
- Navigation and targeting while under fire
- Landing in combat zones requires precision
- Fuel Limitations:
- Limited flight time (15-30 minutes depending on aircraft)
- Must return to base/airfield to refuel
- Vulnerable during refueling on ground
- Ammunition Limits:
- Limited rockets, missiles, and ammunition
- Each sortie has finite combat capability
- Must rearm at base after expending weapons
- Weather and Terrain:
- Limited visibility in bad weather
- Mountains and obstacles limit low-altitude flight
- Difficult night operations without proper equipment
- Ground Fire Vulnerability:
- Small arms can damage helicopters at low altitude
- Must fly low for CAS, exposing to ground fire
- Engine/rotor damage from machine guns
- Resource Intensive:
- Aircraft are expensive Commander assets
- Loss of aircraft is major resource setback
- Long replacement time if destroyed
- Pressure not to lose valuable asset
- Coordination Dependent:
- Effectiveness relies on ground force communication
- Need clear target marking from ground forces
- Risk of friendly fire without coordination
- Landing Zone Risks:
- Vulnerable during takeoff and landing
- Need secure LZ for safe operations
- Can be ambushed while inserting troops
- Countermeasure Limitations:
- Flares and chaff limited (6-12 uses)
- Advanced AA systems may defeat countermeasures
- No defense once countermeasures depleted
- No Ground Combat Role: Completely ineffective in infantry combat if downed
